Film Categories & Eligibility
To be eligible for the 2027 competition, all submitted films must have been completed after June 2025. Submissions are welcome across the following categories:
- Feature Films
- Feature Films for Children
- International Professional Short Films
- International Student Films
- International Short Films for a Young Audience
- National (Belgian) Short Films
- Short Films in Virtual Reality (VR)
Prizes and Oscar® Qualification
While the festival offers incredible networking and global exposure, its competitive awards carry massive industry weight:
- Academy Award® Qualification: The winner of the Anima 2027 Grand Prix will automatically be included on the Academy Award® longlist for the Best Animated Short Film category.
- BAFTA Eligibility: British short films officially selected in one of the competitive categories will also be eligible for the BAFTA Award for Best Short Animation.
(Note: Official selection results are expected to be announced in February 2027).
